The charming Hungarian baroque town of Veszprém and the surrounding picturesque Bakony-Balaton region proudly bear the title of "European Capital of Culture" this year. A variety of events await guests.


Veszprém is located in the immediate vicinity of the Bakony Forest and Lake Balaton. As one of the oldest cities in Hungary, it can look back on a rich cultural heritage: historical monuments such as the so-called "Fire Tower" with a wonderful view of the city or the monasteries and gardens around St. Benedict's Hill invite you to take a historical walk. Lake Balaton with its beaches is particularly well known as a family-friendly bathing destination in Hungary.
