AlUla!

There are only a few white spots left on the map that make us marvel, and AlUla - a region in the northwest of Saudi Arabia - is undoubtedly one of these places. Here, in addition to countless natural wonders, you will find many secrets of human history and the famous Arabian hospitality.

Located on the former Incense Route, AlUla has always been at the center of cultural exchange. The region stretches over 22,561 km², with oases, sandstone mountains and cultural heritage sites. One highlight is the more than 100 ornately carved tomb facades in Hegra, Saudi Arabia's first UNESCO World Heritage Site. Around AlUla, visitors can explore the capital of the ancient kingdom of Dadan with its lion tombs, visit the "open-air library" Jabal Ikmah with over 500 prehistoric messages and drawings and discover the labyrinth of mud-brick houses in the old town, which was named UNESCO Best Tourism Village earlier this year.

There is a lot on offer, but with style. Visitors can float over the landscape in a hot air balloon, ride camels through the dunes and stay overnight in unique hotels - such as the magically situated tent resort Banyan Tree AlUla or the Habitas AlUla, which is half hotel, half art exhibition. Those interested in culture will get their money's worth at festivals such as "Winter at Tantora", which are part of the annual AlUla Moments event series.

A special event is the biennial edition of the famous Desert X AlUla art festival, which will return to the desert landscape in 2024. In the Harrat Mountains there are exciting activities such as ziplining. The "Twisted Maze Hike" is a thrilling adventure for hiking fans, where you make your way through the rugged landscape and collect unforgettable memories.
