Bodenmaiser Hof

With heart and origin

The Bodenmaiser Hof in the Bavarian Forest is reinventing itself with sensitivity. While the four-star superior hotel is being extensively modernized, it remains deeply rooted in its history.
The Bodenmaiser Hof has been shaping hotel life in the Bavarian Forest for over a century - but there is no sign of it standing still. The traditional four-star superior hotel in Bodenmais is in the midst of a careful transformation: modernized step by step without denying its roots. The renovation is being carried out in several stages - plans include new suites, additional retreats for guests and an expansion of the wellness facilities. The lobby and bar areas will also be given a makeover without losing their regional charm.

The origins of
the hotel date back to 1923. What began as a small lemonade and malt beer production business developed over generations into a family-run hotel, which is now managed by Sandra Geiger-Pauli - the great-granddaughter of the founders. She is the fourth generation to run the hotel, and it is clear that it is more than just a job for her. "It's a love story - the Bodenmaiser Hof and I," she says. And anyone who walks through the hotel quickly realizes that this love is evident in many details. Today it is a refuge with 3,500 m2 of spa space, five pools, eight saunas and a close connection to the region. Local materials and familiar forms were also used in the redesign.

The renovation work
is expected to be completed in summer 2026. Until then, much will remain as it is: guests will continue to enjoy the spacious wellness area as well as an activity program with guided hikes and bike tours in the Bavarian Forest National Park - for example to the Silberberg or the Großer Arber. And those looking for relaxation after a day outdoors will find it in treatments such as the "Heavy Leg Massage".
