Vacation bliss in South Tyrol's first family hotel by the lake

THE GERSTL Family Retreat in the Vinschgau Valley

Glide across the turquoise waters of Lake Reschen in a kayak and enjoy a unique natural panorama. Later, relax in the Venosta Spa, let the kids romp in the Aqua Fun Park and surpass themselves on the climbing wall. Laugh together and savor every moment. This creates memories that last. Maximum relaxation, exquisite luxury and the warm hospitality of the Gerstl hotelier family define vacation happiness at the new DAS GERSTL Family Retreat on Lake Reschen. The five-star hotel opened its doors in May 2025.

Sustainable luxury and genuine hospitality
Arrive, be amazed, feel good. The location of the new family hotel on the lakeshore is unique, its atmosphere unforgettable. Host couple Marion and Lukas Gerstl, parents of two daughters and owners of the well-established DAS GERSTL Alpine Retreat near Malles/Mals, have made their cohesion as a family, their roots in Val Venosta/Vinschgau and their connection with the people of the region the foundation of their new retreat. Their knowledge of the needs of families comes from their own experience, and their love of South Tyrol's nature is expressed in the sustainable concept of both houses. For the construction and interior, local craftsmen worked with environmentally friendly, locally sourced materials. The Gerstls also consistently follow their "r30" philosophy in other respects: ingredients and products for the restaurant, as well as the ingredients for the cosmetics line, come from within a radius of 30 kilometers of the hotel wherever possible.

Wood scent and lake view: Spa and suites made to measure
The view of the expanse of the lake, from which the tower of the little church flooded in 1950 rises, is overwhelming. The 65 suites and studios with their sustainable timber construction and modern design are box seats for the unique panorama. With at least 46 square meters of space and a large terrace, they offer plenty of room to relax. The relaxation continues in GERSTI's water world with indoor and outdoor pools, teen and baby pools, in the Aqua Fun Park with a 76-metre slide and in the Venosta Spa. Here, the bio-clay sauna, brine steam bath, panoramic relaxation room and cold room with a view of Lake Reschen provide new energy. Treatments with the hotel's own "r30" cosmetics line based on soothing ingredients from the region are available for spa visitors of all ages. Older guests from the age of sixteen can work out in the gym with the latest wooden fitness equipment - or take part in the weekly fitness program.

Play, romp, climb and splash around
Wind down or really get going? THE GERSTL Family Retreat offers both - for all ages. In the Baby & Toddler Room, the youngest children from six months to three years are lovingly looked after (and free of charge), while in the Mini Club, four to eight-year-olds can play together to their heart's content. For children aged eight and over, the Maxi Club offers games and exciting excursions to explore the surrounding area. Adventure, learning in nature and lots of fun are the focus for kids and teenagers. At the same time, the 76-metre-long water slide and the additional wave slide in the Aqua Fun Park guarantee unlimited water fun. The climbing and bouldering wall for supervised steep wall exercises will also delight older children. Had enough fun? The oases of peace in GERSTI's water world provide retreats for the whole family to chat, dream and cuddle.

Relax together, experience new things together
Precious time together is the focus at DAS GERSTL Family Retreat. Whether on the slopes and the frozen lake in winter or cycling, hiking, sailing, surfing and kayaking in summer: Parents and children share special experiences and unforgettable moments where the adults also have the luxury of being a bit of a child again. The warmth of the host family and the many warm encounters create a very special magic that lasts beyond the vacation. At the same time, parents also have the opportunity to enjoy time out as a couple. That's why the infinity pool is reserved for guests aged sixteen and over for a few hours a day. There is also an adults-only area near the pools, including a panoramic relaxation room with a hayloft, various textile-free saunas - including a lake sauna - and a refreshing zone. If you want to be pampered, make a detour to the fourth floor of the hotel: Soothing massages and treatments await in the Venosta Spa, the hotel's osteopathy room is located next door and a visit to the hotel's own salon is worthwhile for a new hairstyle. In short: THE GERSTL Family Retreat is the perfect vacation home to grow even closer as a family, to give children unforgettable moments and to give parents peace and quiet and some quality time as a couple - without a care in the world, because they know their kids are in the best hands.

Sustainable, regional enjoyment for young and old
Sustainability is also a top priority in head chef Petra Patscheider's kitchen - whenever possible, food is sourced from producers within a radius of 30 kilometers. Regional indulgence begins at breakfast, where the chefs prepare sweet and savory dishes live, and continues with a wide range of afternoon snacks - lunch is also included for younger guests. The culinary highlight comes at dinner: It is served classically at the table in the "Genussmarkt", but is also available to choose from at the show kitchen. Children dine with their parents or take part in the supervised kids' lunch and dinner. From high chairs and bibs to baby glasses, everything the youngest guests need is available in the restaurant. If a refreshment is required in between meals, the juice bar offers syrup and ice cream made from regional ingredients all day long.
