Hotel Petrus in South Tyrol
"Handcrafted hospitality" meets design culture in South Tyrol
At the foot of Kronplatz, above the charming town of Bruneck, lies the family-run Hotel Petrus: a retreat for connoisseurs, design lovers and all those who want to experience South Tyrol at its most authentic. Nestled in the alpine cultural landscape of the Puster Valley, the hotel combines genuine hospitality with creative design and regional awareness.
The sisters Christina, Brigitte and Daniela are the second generation to run the hotel with heart and soul. The concept: a hotel that is not simply furnished, but lovingly designed; with lots of handiwork, natural materials from the surrounding area and the creative signature of a dedicated team. Furniture, ceramics, textiles and even the crockery are all made locally, partly by the hotel's own carpenter and partly by the hosts themselves. This is visible everywhere, noticeable in every detail.
Material cycles and design with soul
The Petrus also remains true to its philosophy when it comes to interior design: wood from the region, loden fabrics from the Moessmer cloth factory in Bruneck, hay beds and linen from the neighboring farm, handmade furniture and many unique pieces with a family history. The hosts themselves regularly make pottery for the hotel. The exterior façade is made of untreated larch wood - just like on the old farms in the area. Because weather and time give the wood a natural patina, no chemicals are needed.
German Design Award for the Petrus.restaurant
The latest expression of this philosophy: the Petrus.restaurant, which won the German Design Award in 2025. The jury praised the successful combination of cuisine, nature and design. Dried flowers from the restaurant's own meadow, shelves with pickled vegetables from the Lechnerhof farm just a five-minute walk away and an interior that blends garden and dining culture - designed by Petrus is not just a phrase here, it's the program.
Breakslow instead of breakfast - and a picnic as a culinary treasure hunt
In culinary terms, the hotel focuses on seasonality and origin: whether at the lovingly served Breakslow breakfast or the Petrus.secret.picnic, the enjoyment always comes with a personal signature. A special experience is the Lechnerhof, where senior chef Hans cultivates fruit and vegetables by hand, which chef Fabian Kammerer transforms into creative dishes together with sous chef Youssef Farsane, a living micro-cycle between garden and plate.
Relaxation on two levels: The pool area at the Hotel Petrus
The spacious pool area provides relaxation: a 25-metre pool, half indoor, half outdoor, heated to 30 °C all year round. There is also a 35 °C relaxation pool with whirlpool function and an XXL couch that invites you to take a break with a view. Those who prefer to be active can discover the surrounding mountains while hiking, biking or skiing - the Kronplatz is practically on the doorstep.
Hotel Petrus stands for a new kind of luxury: quiet, personal, close to nature; with style and soul. A hotel that tells stories, each of which begins with an idea that was created by hand.
