"Ski school is only for beginners!" is a common refrain in the mountains. But that's a misconception! Even passionate skiers who - rightly or wrongly - believe they are quite good on skis would benefit from a refresher course every now and then. Just as golfers naturally take a lesson with a PGA pro every now and then to eradicate any mistakes that have crept in or to improve their technique, this would also be advisable for skiers.

Ski pros swear
by regular training - in the association, in ski schools or with top coaches such as the Swiss Kili Weibel, member of the Swiss Snow Demo Team and two-time ski instructor world champion in synchronized skiing. His videos regularly go viral on social media. The man from Engelberg, who everyone just calls Kili, makes his turns with elegance and power - whether in powder, on carving carpets, through broken snow or on bare ice.

"Being able to
ski safely and playfully on any snow with the terrain is what I want to convey," says Kili. With a sense of proportion, he takes skiers out of their comfort zone. Engelberg offers the ideal training ground for this. From glacier slopes on the Titlis, which can be skied from autumn to late spring, to legendary freeride slopes, everything is there.
Those who want to make the most of their skiing potential benefit enormously from coaching. Top instructors adapt individually to the wishes and possibilities of their guests. "Even before the first turn, so that together we can get the best out of them in the snow," explains Kili.

In addition to
group camps on special topics such as carving or off-piste, he offers individual half-day and full-day units in Engelberg - and recently also innovative online coaching sessions. To do this, Kili has his customers send him a ski video, which he analyzes and discusses with them in an online meeting. Thanks to a graphic tool, he can perfectly highlight the strengths and weaknesses of the turn using lines and arrows during the meeting.
This online coaching alone is an eye-opener for many. Based on the analysis, Kili provides his customers all over the world with exercises - some exercises can even be carried out at home. "But even better is the combination with personal training," says Kili.

After just half
a day with him in Engelberg, many discover a new dimension to skiing. "Of course, it takes time to put what you've learned into practice," admits Kili. It is crucial that you understand, feel and memorize improvements in technique. He challenges without overtaxing by concentrating on the essentials and working on them with an infinite variety of exercises. Kili explains, demonstrates and shows a quick video analysis on his cell phone in between. Nobody needs to be afraid of being overtaxed or of extreme terrain. Because the basics are so important to him, he often trains with cracks on easy slopes. "You learn how to ski on flat slopes, but only how to brake on steep ones," says Kili.

Kili's first choice
as a ski coach is the Kempinski hotel in Engelberg. The Kempinski Palace Engelberg is the only five-star hotel in the valley. The old Belle Époque wing was completely renovated a few years ago and perfectly extended with a modern annex. The spa with pool on the top floor is magnificent and the Chalet Ruinart is extremely cozy. In the pop-up mountain hut in the garden, champagne is served with the cheese fondue. This - and many delicious drinks at very fair prices - is of course also available in the Palace Bar. The Kempinski Bar with its large windows is the most stylish après-ski location in Engelberg and the perfect place to toast your success after a coaching session with Kili.
