As an internationally networked travel agency based in Berlin, we already changed our entire summer portfolio at the end of March, as it was foreseeable that our core business for the months of May to September - the international classical music festivals - would collapse.
As a result, we were able to quickly conclude special contracts for all DISCOVERY Group brands with the private hideaways and boutique hotels in Europe that we only tested in 2019, which we launched in mid-April. From day one, we were able to assure our customers that they would not incur any costs if they had to cancel. We wanted to avoid the voucher solution. Customers reacted extremely positively to this and also communicated this in their private lives, which fortunately brought us a number of new national and international customers.
For some destinations that are currently difficult to reach but are popular with customers (such as Chania, Pantelleria, Akureyri), we have a few private jets in operation and have also negotiated very fair prices with reliable partners. It is important to us to offer our customers an alternative for their summer vacation, even if they have to do without opera festivals and festivals. However, some customers have asked us for small private concerts, which we can also realize with our network. In late autumn, we will have several Mediterranean cruises in our program and will personally supervise 3 departures of the Ponant yachts.
Together with our customers, we are pleased that it will nevertheless be a relaxed, restful and safe summer and would like to take this opportunity to wish our colleagues every success in implementing their travel offers.
