Day 3 - Sea day: After passing through the Strait of Messina sometime during the night, we now have the open Mediterranean - and a wonderfully long day at sea - ahead of us.

We start it with the legendary Caviar & Champagne breakfast in the La Veranda restaurant, then stroll aimlessly around the individual decks to look at all the Picassos, Chagalls, Dalis etc. worth millions (unfortunately there is neither a guided tour nor a printed guide on board for those interested in art, as is usual on other ships) and also try our hand at frying fish in the cooking studio and putting on the 18-hole mini-green. On days like these, the true qualities of the Regent Seven Seas Explorer become apparent: for one thing, this ship is incredibly quiet and low in vibration. And secondly, it is so generously dimensioned that even when fully occupied with 750 passengers, there is enough space and you can always find a seat (the only exception: the specialty restaurants, which is a completely different, rather tedious story). Well-being is the order of the day - and "wellness" in the elegant Canyon Ranch Spa Club on deck 5, where the saunas, steam baths and infrared cabins run hot all day long and the masseurs have their hands full.
And then it's time to dive into what is probably the most beautiful ship's pool in the world. Located at the very back on deck 5, only a glass wall separates it from the Mediterranean blue. There is probably no more spectacular way to float across the world's oceans ...
