And what do you do when you get seasick? We have a completely new and quite lucrative idea...

Did you know that Tom Jones' chest hair is insured for 5 million dollars? And that Julia Roberts' smile is worth 29 million dollars to the insurance company? Still not impressed? Okay, then how about 300 million dollars for Jennifer Lopez's backside? What we're actually trying to tell you: There's probably not much you can't get insured for (or against) - even as a non-celebrity, by the way. The most recent example - and this brings us back to the subject of cruises: the first insurance against seasickness!

This is actually available as an additional "cruise protection" package with ERV insurance and pays 50 euros per day (maximum 250 euros per trip) if you can prove with a medical certificate that you were lying flat in your cabin or in the sick bay. On the one hand, this may be easy money, but on the other hand it also means lying flat in the cabin or in the infirmary. And that at a maximum of six Beauforts (the insurance won't pay for more wind and waves), which corresponds to a wave height of just 3.5 m on the open sea. On a modern megacruiser, you hardly notice any of this and on a smaller, older ship, a plaster behind the ear and a hot ginger water in the cup is usually enough. So there's no reason to miss out on a whole day's vacation.

Unless you have already factored the 50 euros a day into your vacation budget. In that case, we recommend the following sailing areas with reliably high waves: the Atlantic in the fall, the western Mediterranean in the winter, Cape Horn at any time of year and the Baltic Sea in the spring. The only thing left to clarify before booking your trip is whether there is an insurance policy that will pay even if there are no waves. But if Mariah Carey can insure her legs to the tune of a billion, then that's guaranteed...
