The cruise captains' favorite ports
"Mein Schiff 3" captain Ioannis Anastasiou about Stavanger:
"My favorite port is Stavanger - the entrance to the port here is beautiful. I also always look forward to the city. We're very close to the center here, so I have the opportunity to go for a walk in between without moving far away from the ship. Passing the colorful houses, whose colors always remind me a little of the Caribbean islands of Aruba and Curacao, I then enjoy the summery Norway. The sun is shining and the temperatures are pleasant - as a Greek, I particularly like that. Lots of greenery in the middle of the city, coupled with a special tranquillity and cleanliness - that's what characterizes Stavanger for me and makes it simply unique."
Ioannis Anastasiou is 56 years old and has been at sea since 1982. Born in Greece, he comes from Plataria, a small town south of Igoumenitsa. He is married and has two daughters. He is also passionate about the sea in his private life. Ioannis lives in the Patras area and can look out to sea from his house.
