Travel Diary: From St. Maarten to Barbados

300 inhabitants, four square kilometers of land and a single road leading to the Salt Whistle Bay Club: Mayreau is the smallest inhabited island in the Grenadines - and pretty much the most relaxed place you can imagine. Provided the Seadream I is not at anchor. Because on these days, Mayreau is always buzzing. The reason: the big "Champagne & Caviar Splash" with picnic and BBQ on the village beach! From the early morning, the tender boats shuttle back and forth between the yacht and the jetty almost non-stop, transporting burgers, chicken wings and beer; silver cutlery, cloth napkins and surfboards - and of course caviar tins, blinis and bottles of champagne, which are later served in the knee-deep water. There is hardly a passenger who would miss out on this final highlight of the trip. There is partying, laughter and dancing to the sounds of a steel band until shortly before sunset. Or you can simply grab your fins and snorkel after dinner and dive underwater for a few quiet moments. Provided, of course, that you haven't already booked a massage appointment in the shade of the palm trees in the ship's spa.

This is how casual luxury can be and how beautifully our last long day of travel comes to an end. We leave the island just in time for the blue hour and set course for Barbados.
One more night on the high seas, then it's back to everyday life. What remains are a thousand wonderful memories - and the Seadream pyjamas embroidered with your name, which every guest receives on embarkation. A truly wonderful gift, in our opinion.
