Travel Diary: From St. Maarten to Barbados
Day 1: Departure & arrival: "We love challenges" is one of the Seadream slogans. Just as well, because a seven-hour flight delay would actually mean that we would miss the departure of the Seadream I in St. Maarten by three hours ...
Instead, however, the concierge team promises in countless phone calls to wait for us to leave, to send a member of staff to the airport and to make sure that we make it from the airport to the ship in record time despite the carnival-related road closures on the island.
All of this - as well as the delicious, perfectly seared tuna that we were served in the restaurant a little later (although the kitchen had actually long since closed) - is something that the fantastic Seadream team have yet to imitate!
"It's not cruising, it's yachting" is another of the company's slogans. We have already understood the subtle difference - even though the Seardream I hasn't even left the pier in Philipsburg yet ...
