Air Malta Business Class
The fact that Malta is a popular destination for language students is evident this Friday afternoon in Terminal 2 at Vienna Airport. Two hours before departure, a queue of over 100 passengers has formed in front of the three Air Malta counters. Thanks to a dedicated Business Class counter, Air Malta has also recently become a cooperation partner of Austrian Airlines, it is possible to move forward quickly. You can tell that it is high time for the new SkyLink terminal by the crowds of people pushing their way through the airport. And you should arrive at the gate on time, because Air Malta takes off on time.
The flight attendants on board greet you nicely and their hospitality increases by the minute. Take-off is ten minutes ahead of schedule and the Airbus A319 immediately heads south at a brisk pace. For dinner, Cesar's salad, cheese and dessert are served on real crockery, accompanied by a Maltese red wine, Carissimi, Cabernet Sauvignon 2008.
The newspaper selection may only consist of Maltese media, but the cabin and aircraft make a decent impression. In contrast to some other curtains that separate Business Class and Economy Class, the one on board here is of a particularly shielding quality. The seats are covered in leather (the middle seat remains free in Business Class), the Airbus A319 with 141 seats is somewhat looser than on other airlines with 150 to 160 seats. The crew is in a good mood, the steward is also available to answer questions in German, all of which makes for a homely atmosphere. All well and good? On our flight, yes, but Air Malta is going through turbulent economic times and will have to undergo painful restructuring. We land ten minutes before the scheduled arrival time. The terminal welcomes its guests with a lot of glamor, comfort and short distances.
