Qatar Airways receives world's first A350-1000
Airbus has handed over the world's first A350-1000 wide-body jet to launch customer Qatar Airways at a ceremony in Toulouse, France.
The aircraft is the first of a total of 37 A350-1000s that Qatar has ordered from Airbus. It is also the first Airbus aircraft to feature the revolutionary new QSuite seats, which offer a double bed in Business Class for the first time. With 76 aircraft on order, Qatar Airways is the world's largest customer for the A350 XWB family and also the largest A350-1000 customer.
Connoisseur Circle was the only Austrian medium on board the elite delivery flight from Toulouse to Doha and will report on their Business Class "QSuite", which we tested extensively, in one of the next issues.
Qatar Airways already operates 20 Airbus A350-900s, the seven-meter shorter version, on its global route network. Both aircraft complement each other through maximum commonality with high operational efficiency and offer the same unique travel experience in their airspace cabin. More freedom of movement, an optimized cabin pressure altitude, more fresh air, temperature and humidity control, integrated connections and the latest generation of in-flight entertainment ensure well-being on board. Including a really high level of service from the flight attendants.
The A350-1000 is the latest and largest Airbus wide-body jet in the twin-aisle category, i.e. a twin-engine aircraft. Qatar Airways CEO Akbar Al Baker explained to Connoisseur Circle on board that they are already working on a new Economy Class, which will be presented in one to two years. Qatar Airways is also massively expanding its route network, including to secondary airports in Europe, such as Sarajevo, Mykonos or Adana and many more.
