Asiana Airlines with Airbus A350-900
South Korea's Asiana Airlines is now one of the exclusive airlines operating Airbus' largest twin-engine aircraft, the A350-900.
On April 24, the Star Alliance member took delivery of the first of a total of 30 Airbus A350s in sunny Toulouse. The new flagship will initially operate scheduled flights from Seoul to Manila and Hong Kong from May, before moving on to long-haul flights to San Francisco and London Heathrow.
For the first time, Asiana is also offering a Premium Economy Class, i.e. the product that is integrated between Business and regular Economy Class. There are a total of 311 seats on board the Asiana A350, of which 28 are in Business, 36 in Premium Economy and 247 in Economy Class. Naturally, the latest entertainment product has been installed and WIFI is also available on board. Asiana will receive three more A350s this year, with two more A350s to follow in 2018.
Airbus has received a total of 821 firm orders for the A350 from 44 airline customers. During Connoisseur Circle's visit to Toulouse for the handover ceremony to Asiana, Airbus explained that 77 A350s were already in service worldwide at the end of March. Asiana is now the twelfth airline to operate this type of aircraft. The current global A350 fleet has carried 8.5 million passengers with more than 200,000 flight hours and an operational reliability of 99 percent. On April 26, China Southern Airlines also announced an order for 20 A350-900s
