Singapore Airlines with new Airbus A380 product to Zurich
Singapore Airlines has been operating the first of five new Airbus A380s since December 18, 2017. Naturally with the latest on-board service for all passengers, as we have already reported.
From summer 2018, the new flagship will also be deployed on the Singapore-Zurich route, confirmed Syyen Chen, Singapore Airlines General Manager for Germany, Austria and Switzerland. The latest A380s currently fly between Singapore and Sydney as well as to London.
Zurich was chosen because it is one of the most dominant destinations after London, especially for Business and First Class customers. In addition, Premium Economy is also larger on the new A380.
The highlight on board the Singapore Airlines A380 are definitely the six First Class suites, each 4.6 square meters in size and very private: 1.75 m high walls protect against prying eyes. The sliding door closes mechanically. Two of these suites can then be converted into a large bedroom with a double bed.
In addition to the five new aircraft, Singapore Airlines will also equip its 14 A380s already in operation with new cabin products. The modernization programme is scheduled to begin at the end of 2018 and will be carried out by the airline together with Services by Airbus. All 14 aircraft will therefore receive a modernized cabin by 2020.
The new A380 for Singapore Airlines is designed for a total of 471 passengers. The upper deck is divided into the aforementioned six private suites and a Business Class with 78 seats. On the main deck, a Premium Economy Class with 44 seats has been added to the Economy Class with 343 seats.
One reason why Singapore Airlines is deploying not only the latest A380 but also the new Boeing 787-10 to Perth, i.e. Australia, is to stand up to the massive competition in the highly competitive market Down Under with its state-of-the-art product. Singapore Airlines is the first airline in the world to operate the 787-10. Singapore Airlines operates over 130 weekly flights to Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne, Perth, Adelaide and Canberra. The most flights of all Star Alliance members.
