There are many indescribably beautiful hotels in the world with magnificent views. But one is truly fantastic: the stunning view from the Arctic Hotel over Ilulissat's Disko Bay with its icebergs and sled dogs is an absolute hit. Even from the bed in our room.

The Arctic Hotel in the northern Greenlandic town of Ilulissat offers a top location with a high level of comfort and coherence in many respects. First of all, it is important to remember that when traveling through Greenland, you should not have the same high expectations as for the top international hotels.

But the Arctic Hotel meets many requirements, especially after an eventful and impressive day on the coastal ship from the capital Nuuk, impressed by icebergs and whales, the spacious rooms, comfortable bathroom and friendly service are twice as pleasant - after all, you are "at the end of the world".

The hotel's location directly on Disko Bay, with a constant view of the icebergs, is worth staying here. Situated slightly away from the city and on the cliffs, the location is ideal. The hotel is also located between the airport and the center of Ilulissat (approx. 15 minutes' walk). There are also hourly shuttle buses between the town and the hotel. If you want to take a longer walk, for example to the sled dog areas near the old heliport, this can be reached on foot from the hotel in around 40 minutes.

The superior room was exemplary clean. Service in the bar or restaurant was a little slow at times, but the staff were friendly and helpful. The one or other charm offensive would also be desirable at check-in. It is best to adapt to the Greenlandic serenity.

There is a very good and extensive breakfast buffet. The restaurant, where you can eat well, also offers samples of Greenlandic cuisine. We can say that the Arctic Hotel has earned 4 stars and is perhaps the best hotel on the island in Greenland.

And what else? You should definitely take a boat trip between the icebergs to go whale-watching. There is a very good chance of spotting humpback whales.

Unfortunately, WLAN in the hotel is very expensive. But this is the case throughout Greenland.
