The lounge gem

The new Business Lounge at Salzburg Airport was opened on July 7, 2015. At last! Passengers traveling Business Class or with frequent flyer status had to wait a long time for this in the city of Mozart.

The need for a business lounge was recognized long before, according to the airport, as there have been many requests from airlines and passengers in the past. However, the realization in recent years simply failed due to a lack of space. Although distances are short at the friendly airport in the festival city of Salzburg and waiting times are pleasant, various network carriers and the classic scheduled airlines at Salzburg Airport were asked whether there was any interest in a business lounge for their premium customers. Finally, during the evaluation, the potential number of passengers with access rights was calculated at 5,000 to 15,000 per year per airline.

On an area of 80 square meters, up to 25 guests can now enjoy the time before their departure in a pleasant atmosphere with good service and a view of the apron. The entrance is located right next to the Austrian Airlines Business Class check-in. A separate security check guarantees virtually no waiting times. The walk to Gate 1 - the furthest away from the lounge - takes less than two minutes at a leisurely pace.

The design of the lounge is even somewhat reminiscent of that of Turkish Airlines in Istanbul (woodwork), which is operated by Do&Co. Due to its (small) size, the lounge exudes comfort and subtle charm. The range of food and drinks on offer is outstanding for a lounge at a regional airport and far surpasses the lounge at Linz Airport in terms of comfort and service.

After Turkish Airlines and British Airways, Austrian Airlines and Lufthansa passengers have now also had access since August - in addition to HON members - business customers (Senator, Gold Card, Business Class). It is interesting to note why Austrian and Lufthansa hesitated to grant their passengers access from day one...

In order to realize the new business lounge, the former offices of Salzburg Airport Services (S.A.S.) and AUA/Tyrolean Technik were converted and adapted to the needs of business customers. The costs for the conversion of the infrastructure amounted to 280,000 euros. Salzburg Airport Services, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Salzburg Airport, operates the lounge and financed the furnishings and equipment. The catering partner is the airport's restaurant operator Airest.

By the way: If capacity is available, individual tickets can also be purchased for 36 euros. Vouchers can be purchased directly on site at the Salzburg Airport Service ticket center in the check-in hall of Terminal 1. An absolute recommendation on our part to do so in order to spend a relaxing time in the lounge.
