Connoisseur Circle was exclusively invited by Star Alliance on January 9, 2016 at Rio
de Janeiro Antonio Carlos Jobim International Airport (RIOgaleão) for the opening
opening of its latest exclusive lounge.

It is located on Level 3 in the departures area of the new international Terminal 2 and is available to Star Alliance passengers with access rights around the clock, 365 days a year. The 600 square meter lounge offers more than 150 seats and a wonderful view of the airport grounds and the surrounding area. Rio's landmarks, the Sugar Loaf Mountain and the Christ the Redeemer statue, are visible in the distance.

The new lounge is the latest addition to our Star Alliance lounge network. It is also the only lounge of an airline alliance at RIOgaleão Airport, explained Star Alliance CEO Mark Schwab.

In the new lounge, the globally uniform, brand-typical design elements of Star Alliance have been skillfully combined with local elements and influences.
influences. Brazilian wood, stone and concrete reflect the architectural language of the city, while plants and color accents underline Rio's close connection to nature. Handmade Brazilian furniture by well-known designers creates a special flair and gives the lounge an exclusive yet inviting character.

A highlight of the new lounge in Rio is the bar with waiter service, where customers are treated to coffee and other drinks prepared by baristas, including a Star Alliance cocktail mixed to order and various refreshments such as caipirinhas. An extensive buffet also offers various hot and cold dishes of Brazilian cuisine, rounded off by a live cooking station where dishes are freshly prepared to customer order.

Wi-Fi is available free of charge throughout the lounge, as are numerous power sockets and USB ports for charging electronic devices. Secure luggage lockers with charging stations and a private workstation complete the offer. The lounge also has its own toilets and three showers.

A total of six Star Alliance partners offer 370 weekly flights to and from RIOgaleão Airport: Avianca, Avianca Brazil, COPA, Lufthansa, TAP and United. This means that flights are available to 16 destinations in seven countries.

In addition to the lounge in Rio, Star Alliance has its own lounges in Buenos Aires (Ezeiza), Los Angeles (TBIT Terminal), Nagoya, Paris (CDG) and São Paulo (Guarulhos). There are more than 1,100 Star Alliance lounges worldwide, some of which are operated by member airlines and third-party providers.
