Local inspection at the Airbus plant in Finkenwerder. Airbus presented the new cabin of its A350XWB test aircraft MSN002 to the public at this site. The aircraft, which completed its maiden flight on February 26, 2014, is part of the growing A350 test fleet and is the first of two test aircraft to be equipped with a passenger cabin.

This cabin has
already undergone intensive testing on the ground and in cruise flight during a two-week stay of the aircraft in Hamburg in mid-March 2014. Technical and research teams in Hamburg are responsible for developing the cabins of all Airbus aircraft. Thanks to its extra-wide fuselage ("eXtra-Wide Body"), the A350 XWB will offer passengers even more space, flexibility and comfort in both Business and Economy Class. The new cabin design illustrates this in particular with 18-inch (46 cm) wide seats in Economy Class with 9 seats per row.

Chris Emerson,
Airbus Senior Vice President Marketing, said: "Passenger comfort is becoming an increasingly important differentiator in the aviation industry, driving passenger choice and airline success. The A350 XWB is the only aircraft in its category that offers passengers comfort without compromise and airlines unbeatable economics, flexibility and fuel efficiency."

The A350
XWB test aircraft MSN002 will carry out a series of early long flights with passengers in the cabin. In addition, cabin tests in extreme heat and cold are planned in its extensive test program, which also includes a validation of the modern fourth-generation in-flight entertainment (IFE) systems. MSN002 will soon be joined by a second A350 with an equipped cabin (MSN005). MSN005 is intended for route-proving flights to the most important destinations worldwide.

The A350 XWB
is a completely new family of medium-capacity long-haul aircraft offered in three basic versions with seating capacities ranging from 276 to 369 passengers. This family, with its 221-inch (5.61 m) wide cabin cross-section, is optimized for unrestricted passenger comfort on long-haul routes in all classes and enables a 25 percent efficiency gain compared to previous aircraft in this size category.

By the end
of March 2014, Airbus had already received 812 orders for the A350 XWB from 39 customers around the world.
